Memorial Day in the Highlands

Memorial Day was May 26, and a service was held at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery to remember and mourn those who have died while serving in the military.

Welcomed by Kevin Rose, Commander of American Legion Post 19, the ceremony included the presentation of colors, songs performed by ChoralSounds Northwest, wreath presentations, a military salute, a keynote address by Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Steve Strand, a reading of a Memorial Day tribute and even a release of doves.

The Greenwood Memorial Cemetery is located at 350 Monroe Avenue Northeast. The American Legion Post 19 is located at 3224 Northeast 12th Street and offers supportive services for veterans and their family. For more information, visit post19.org.
