Kicking off the first Saturday of Pride Month on June 7, the Renton LGBTQIA+ Community hosted a “paper party” at the Renton Library, where locals could learn about basic rights and civic knowledge, making for a productive and inclusive version of a Pride event.
The paper party featured a notary and paralegal, a booth for registering to vote along with a “make your own pocket constitution” booth hosted by the United Christian Church of Renton and an informational booth from Bellevue College. The paper party also included crafts, stickers and even a kids corner courtesy of IKEA.
Renton LGBTQIA+ Community will partner with the Renton Library throughout the summer with Cozy Craft Night events on June 18, July 16 and Aug. 20, along with a Lambert House Craft Event on July 18.
The organization will also walk in the July 26 Renton River Days Parade and will host their annual Pride in the Park event at the Cedar River Trail Park. For more information, visit renton.lgbt.
