The Henry Moses Aquatic Center will reopen this weekend after off-season construction.

Renton’s aquatic center will be open to the public again on Saturday, June 28, after having a delayed opening this year due to improvements made to the park over the spring.

The upgrades include replacing worn pool liners and failing tiles, installing new pumps and motors for better water circulation, removing the broken splash pad to create a more inviting entry with seating and shade, safety and accessibility upgrades to the locker rooms, and improved visibility and functionality for the concessions building.

According to a Facebook post by Renton Parks and Recreation, some enhancements are still in progress. The play structure was also removed and is set to be replaced after the season due to a back order.

Before construction began, Renton Director of Facilities Jeff Minisci said the planned repairs will enhance the overall visitor experience “by improving the facility’s safety, comfort and efficiency.”

“Replacing outdated equipment and infrastructure will reduce the frequency of closures and maintenance issues, ensuring more consistent access for the community,” Minisci said. “The upgrades will also create a more welcoming and visually appealing environment, encouraging higher attendance and increased community engagement. Improved mechanical systems will result in better air and water quality, contributing to a healthier atmosphere for both visitors and staff. Additionally, the modernized concessions and enhanced seating areas will provide more opportunities for social interaction and relaxation.”
